Omnicom Votes | An Election Initiative

How Javelin Votes became Omnicom Votes.

Voting matters.

It’s one of our most important fundamental rights. The right to vote gives voice to every American who participates. It’s vital, and one of my great passions.

With the November 2020 elections approaching, I launched a Voter Registration Drive within the DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) committee at Javelin.

The support was overwhelming.

With remote work, we had employees living and working in six states, so I researched exactly how to register, and how, where and when to vote in those six states.

An Art Director volunteered to design an easy-to-use, clickable PDF, which Javelin distributed to all 200+ of its employees. Here’s a snippet:

but why stop there?

I started giving speeches about voting at our monthly agency meetings, but it didn’t feel like enough. And then it dawned on me. I pitched Javelin’s leadership on the idea of offering custom Voter Registration information to our seven Omnicom sister agencies in the US.

This would cover thousands of employees, living in over 28 states.

Voter info was changing by the day.

State laws were morphing across the US, but I did the best I could with a monumental amount of research. After creating about a 140-page Word document, art director Ashley Hayes transformed that madness into something digestible and beautiful.

We sent curated, clickable PDFs to RAPP, Sparks & Honey, Kern, Critical Mass, Barefoot, Credera and Organic. Each PDF covered how to register and how, when, and where to vote in the precise states where that agency’s employees lived and worked.

I wrote an email for Javelin’s CEO, and she sent the PDFs directly to those agencies’ CEOS.

Omnicom voted.

A Creative Director at Javelin told me my relentless (read: probably annoying) passion motivated him to register and vote for the first time in his life.

Positive impact work is my true passion in life. I look forward to pursuing it more and more.
